Maple Grove High School junior guard Stephanie Davison has verbally committed to play basketball at the University of Northern Iowa. She accepted coach Tanya Warren’s scholarship offer to join the Panther’s squad in the Fall of 2011.

Davison, a 4 year letter winner and three year starter, had a very tough decision to make after receiving offers and interest from several division I and II schools. “UNI is the perfect fit for me. It is an outstanding school academically with the major I was looking for,” Davison commented. “The entire coaching staff has been welcoming and supportive. They have built a top-notch basketball program that I am so excited to become a part of.”

Steph earned Northwest Suburban All-Conference honors as a sophomore and a junior. Last season she helped lead the Maple Grove Crimson to a record of 27-3, their first Northwest Suburban Conference Championship, and a trip to the 2010 Minnesota Girls Basketball State Tournament. Steph is also a three year letter winner and a junior captain of the Crimson varsity volleyball team, all while maintaining a 4.0 grade point average.

“Steph is a hard working kid. I am so proud of her. She has been a gym rat as long as I’ve known her. She is the first one in the gym and the last one out almost everyday. She has worked very hard to earn this opportunity and it is so much fun for us all to see her hard work pay off,” Coach Mark Cook added. “She is a great team player and a great team leader. Northern Iowa is getting a great basketball talent and a fantastic young lady!”
