Week two is upon us and the FOX Preps team has its eyes on the following games pitting top ten teams. Here is how we see things.

#3 (5A) Wayzata vs. #8 (5A) Lakeville South:
Okay, so here is the deal. The Trojans and their poised quarterback Sasha Doran are the real deal Holyfield. This contest marks the first of three top ten opponents (as of this jotting) with Eden Prairie and Minnetonka the others. By the time they play Hopkins, the Royals may crack the top ten as well. The Trojans ran away from Owatonna in week one 42-14 and look to continue their winning ways. The Cougars won a grinder against Eagan in week one and now face the Trojans although they do play the game in the friendly confines of their home field. Junior quarterback Mitchell Leidner had to have his arm hanging off following his 28 of 42 for 301 yard performance against the Cats.

Our Pick: Wayzata with a 34-27 win on the road to start 2-0.

#6 (5A) Stillwater Area vs. #4 Mounds View
This one might be the game of the night across the entire state. Stillwater is balanced with a ton of senior leadership. Quarterback Adam Paulson threw for 155 yards and three scores last week and senior runner Corey Peterson eclipsed the century mark carrying the rock 33 times for 142 yards in a 35-0 win over Park of Cottage Grove. The ground and pound of Mounds View continued to run downhill in week one rolling Roseville 55-19 in the process rushed for 308 yards of the total 513 as a team. These two teams met twice last year splitting the series (the first went the way of the Ponies in the regular season and the second to the Mustangs that ended Stillwater’s season)

Our Pick: The real winner is going to be those in attendance. Mounds View wins at home 35-28.

#7 (5A) Osseo vs. #9 (5A) Minnetonka
The Orioles are for real. They have a huge opportunity to open eyes with a made for primetime matchup against the Skippers. The Orioles defeated Maple Grove in the season opener 41-rock. The Skippers might have the toughest schedule in high school football. They lost their opener at home to Totino-Grace 21-0. They host the Orioles and later on in the season end their schedule with Wayzata, Eden Prairie and Hopkins. Yikes’..

Our Pick: Osseo 38-17

#5 (4A) Benilde-St. Margaret’s vs. #1 (4A) Totino-Grace
If there is a co-main event to the Stillwater v. Mounds View tilt it will be here. BSM and TG’a battle of 4A powers. Okay, Grace shut out Tonka in week one and surprise ran the ball 40 times. It was the defense of the Eagles however that came to play, holding the Skippers to 92 yards passing and 86 yards on the ground. Want balance? We give you the BSM offense. Senior quarterback Thomas Nelson went 16 for 24 for 205 yards and three touchdowns. From the pedestrian department senior Kyle McCarthy rushed 17 times for 141 yards and three touchdowns.

Our Pick: Grace continues to run’literally 24-14

#9 (3A) Belle Plaine/Holy Family Acad vs. #5 (3A) Le Sueur-Henderson
Senior running back Kyle Wolke ran 35 times for 212 yards and a score in Belle Plaine’s opening night 21-20 come from behind victory over Maple River 21-20. Le Sueur Henderson ripped St. Peter last Friday 52-7. Whoa’.

Our Pick: LeSueur Henderson with the win 42-28

#7 (9-man) Goodridge-Grygla vs. #5 (9-man) Kittson County Central
Well well’two teams that we have all heard from in 9 man football brace for battle in week two. The Blue Devils doubled up Ada Borup in week one 44-22. Kittson County Central defeated Waubun 35-6.

Our Pick: The Bearcats with a big win 35-17
