Zimmerman - We at FOX Preps send our sincere condolences to Glen’s family and friends at the tragic loss of such a wonderful and well respected young man.
I remember traveling to Zimmerman last year for our webcast of the game against Buffalo. The entire Thunder family made us feel so at home as soon as we pulled into the parking lot. In a word, it was amazing.
In doing research for the game, I kept thinking about the dynamic duo of Glen (who coach Kish affectionately referred to as Bubba) and Michael Jenson. At the time of the game, the two led the state in passing and receptions. We couldn’t wait to see them play.
Even though the game didn’t go the right way for the home team, covering the Thunder on that Friday night was a highlight of our season. Michael didn’t end up playing due to an injury, but the kid known as Bubba still put on a show and proved to everyone watching how special he was on the field. Even down 30-0, he rallied his team for two touchdowns providing his team with a never quit attitude.
Coach Kish kept telling us how special Bubba was when we talked before the game. His comment that hit home was how as good as Glen was on the field, he was even better in school and in the community.
We never had the opportunity to know Bubba outside of the white lines and bright lights. I wish we had.
We are thankful for the opportunity that we were given to watch Bubba that night and will remember and treasure what he gave to high school football in Minnesota.
