APPLE VALLEY - If the 2009 Apple Valley Eagles were looking to prove a point in their state championship run, they certainly grabbed the attention of soccer fans. Just how dominant were the Eagles? The school has now won eight state titles and with it, head coach Chuck Scanlon’s squad continues to rise above the competition and posted the programs first undefeated campaign last year finishing 24-0. The past two seasons, the Eagles have combined for a stout 43-2-1 record.

So what does this version of the Eagles have to offer? Senior forward Tom Obarski returns for his senior campaign. As a junior Obarski was the second leading scorer tallying 45 points including 24 goals. Tim Van Beck also returns for his senior season as the main keep for the Eagles. As a junior, Van Beck allowed only six goals in 24 games.

The Eagles have history on their side in regard to repeating as champs. Their first state title came in 1984, they waited until 1988 to grab their second and then won again in 1989. Their fourth title came in 1992, but had to wait until 1997 to win their fifth. The Eagles won their sixth title a year later. In 2006, Apple Valley won their seventh and finally won again in 2010 leading the way for yet another possible back-to-back scenario.
