MINNEAPOLIS, Minn—The Wayzata Trojans entered the state tournament as the number 3 seed. They exited with a state championship, the fifth in school history in 21 appearances with an impressive 2-1 upset win over defending champ Woodbury.

The Trojans grabbed the lead on a miscue by Woodbury goaltender Brittany Cygan. Cygan lost the ball in front of the net and Erin Krause pounced on it giving the Trojans a 1-0 lead in the 49th minute.

The defending champs tied the score less than 10 minutes later on a Caitlin Graboski penalty kick. Wayzata junior Taylor Wodnick scored the winning goal in the 68th minute with a header that beat Cygan lifting the Trojans to the title.
